Dear Baltimore,

On Monday, January 10th, City Council Bill 21-0121  American Rescue Plan Funds – Performance Oversight bill, became law. This legislation creates a formal partnership between the City Council and Administration, more specifically the Mayor's Office of Recovery Programs, to ensure that transparency is given to the citizens of Baltimore as it relates to the spending of $641 million to aid in the City’s pandemic recovery efforts.

This morning, I sent a letter to Mayor Brandon Scott sharing why this law will make certain that we take the time to make a real difference to undo some of the deliberate damage in our city created by longstanding structural inequity. I am making this letter public so you can read it in its entirety.

Your City Council will continue to work to ensure that the City utilizes this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to equitably invest in our residents and our communities.

Baltimore, I love you!

In service,

Council President signature
