Councilwoman Holton received her M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1995 and also received a graduate certificate in Leadership Development from Johns Hopkins University in 1993. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Baltimore in 1982 and also attended Morgan State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Councilwoman Holton's many awards and honors include the Verda Freeman Welcome Political Award in 1997, she was named one of the Baltimore Business Journal's Forty Under 40 and to the Top 100 Women in Maryland list by The Daily Record/Warfield Magazine.
Councilwoman Holton serves on numerous boards and commissions including Civic Works, Inc., Northwest Baltimore Youth Services, Inc. and the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Council and Executive Committee. Councilwoman Holton is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Baltimore City League of Women Voters, and the Greater West Hills Community Association. She is an active member of Payne Memorial AME Church.
