Councilman Crider was selected by the City Council's Vacancy Nominating Committee to fill the 13th District vacancy left by retired Councilwoman Paula Johnson Branch. He was sworn in by Mayor Sheila Dixon on April 16, 2007. Crider served as Councilwoman Branch's legislative director. Councilman Crider has been active in politics and community organizations in East Baltimore for a number of years. He also has 25 years of military service, having served in the Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm conflicts. Councilman Crider will sit on the Council’s Budget, Education and Legislative Investigations Committees. A graduate of Dunbar High School, he also has a bachelor's degree from Towson University and a master's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a member of Zion Baptist Church.
