COUNCIL PRESIDENT’S STATEMENT REGARDING THE PASSING OF LOCAL BOXING ICON AND MENTOR

BALTIMORE, MD – "I join countless others tonight as I mourn the loss of a local boxing icon who used the sport to instill integrity and perseverance in generations of young Baltimoreans.

I remember fondly climbing the steep stairs that led to Mr. Mack Lewis' gym, which stood across the alley from my childhood house on East Eager Street. Mr. Lewis, whose work as a world-class boxing trainer was widely recognized, helped shape and mold impressionable minds that might have gone astray if not for his caring spirit and decades of dedicated service to Baltimore."
