FOR the purpose of prohibiting the transfer of certain vacant structures without

Informational Hearing - East Baltimore Development Inc.

FOR the purpose of requesting that the representatives of East Baltimore

Development Inc., brief the Council regarding the status of their current projects,

their use of minority businesses in current development projects, and their current

procurement and hiring practices.

Inter-Agency Training Initiative - Nuisance Crimes

FOR the purpose of requesting the Baltimore City State’s Attorney and the

Baltimore City Police Commissioner, with the aid of area law schools and other

legal resources, to cooperatively develop an inter-agency training program for

police officers to insure that nuisance citations meet requisite legal standards to be

upheld in court, and any other training needs of police personnel are addressed, in

order to make certain that the enforcement of nuisance laws has the intended effect

of preserving the quality of life of Baltimore City neighborhoods.

Baltimore City Public School Teachers - Gang Related Violence Training

FOR the purpose of requesting the CEO of the Baltimore City Public School

System to develop and implement a program for teachers to provide them with the

tools to recognize gang-related violence, to identify youth most at-risk for gang

recruitment, and to provide the necessary intervention resources and law

enforcement interaction to insure the safety and security of students, school

personnel, and school property.

In Support of Federal Legislation - FIT Kids Act

FOR the purpose of expressing support for the Fitness Integrated with Teaching

(FIT) Kids Act that amends the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965

(ESEA), to measure not only student academic progress but also student progress

toward a national goal of 150 minutes weekly of physical education in elementary

school and 225 minutes weekly of physical education in middle and high schools.

Solid Waste, Garbage, and Mixed Refuse - Hours of Collection

FOR the purpose of setting and conforming the hours during which certain

collection activities may not be conducted near residential structures; and generally

relating to the collection of solid waste, garbage, and mixed refuse.

conform, and correct certain language and references in the Plan, and revise certain
